To support economic growth demands in South Africa and to satisfy our own requirements for highly skilled postgraduates in the science and engineering disciplines, Sasol awards postgraduate bursaries for M.Sc., M.Eng. and PhD. studies in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.<\/p>\n

Postgraduate (M.Sc. \/ M.Eng. \/ PhD.)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

To support economic growth demands in South Africa and to satisfy our own requirements for highly skilled postgraduates in the science and engineering disciplines, Sasol awards postgraduate bursaries for M.Sc., M.Eng. and PhD. studies in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These awards will be made for postgraduate research supporting Sasol and South Africa\u2019s energy and circular economy transition, through application in the following core disciplines:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Chemical Engineering \u2013 Fluid Dynamics<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Chemical Engineering \u2013 Mathematical and Statistical Modelling<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Chemical Engineering \u2013 Process Modelling<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Chemical Engineering \u2013 Reactor Technology<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Chemical Engineering \u2013 Separation Technology<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Chemical Engineering \u2013 Thermodynamics<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Chemistry \u2013 Advance analytical Chemistry in the areas of Vibrational Spectroscopy or Gas Chromatography<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  8. Chemistry \u2013 Catalysis or Polymer Science<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  9. Chemistry \u2013 Environmental Science in the areas of Water, Waste or Air, or in Air with focus on dispersion modelling <\/span><\/li>\n
  10. Cyber Security<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  11. Data Science – Applied Mathematics<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  12. Data Science – Statistics\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \u202fApplicants are not required to have a formal project proposal ready but should know in which area of chemistry or chemical engineering they would like to study and must be able to discuss possible topics which will support the current sustainability imperatives.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Successful candidates will engage with Sasol technical experts and academic supervisors to finalise a project proposal.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    To apply for the above-mentioned Postgraduate fields, the student current field of study should be one of the following:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. B.Eng. \/ B.Sc. Chemical Engineering<\/li>\n
    2. B.Sc. Chemistry<\/li>\n
    3. B.Sc. Statistics<\/li>\n
    4. B.Sc. Applied Mathematics<\/li>\n
    5. B.Sc. Computer Science<\/li>\n
    6. B.Eng. Electronic Engineering<\/li>\n
    7. B.Eng. Computer Engineering<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

       <\/p>\n

      Applicants need not have a formal project proposal ready but should know in which area of chemistry or chemical engineering they would like to study and should be able to discuss possible topics which would support the current sustainability imperatives.<\/p>\n

      Successful candidates will engage with Sasol technical experts and academic supervisors to finalise a project proposal.<\/p>\n

      Students interested in an Honours Degree<\/strong> or 4th year<\/strong> studies should apply under South African Undergraduate studies, with the relevant year of study.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”How do I qualify?” tab_id=”how-do-i-qualify” el_class=”qualify”][vc_column_text]The main criteria used in the selection of successful applicants are:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Postgraduate bursaries will be awarded for full-time studies exclusively<\/li>\n
      2. Applicants must have completed or are currently in the final year preceding the PG degree he\/she will be registered for next year.<\/li>\n
      3. A minimum of 65% average must have been obtained in Hons\/4th year<\/li>\n
      4. South African citizen (ID document\/card)<\/li>\n
      5. Post-graduate studies must be at a recognised and approved South African university \u2013 NB. No consideration\/approval for studies abroad will be provided.<\/li>\n
      6. Applicant should have an exceptional academic record<\/li>\n
      7. Applicant with a criminal record will not be considered.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          \n
        1. Sasol postgraduate bursars get a monthly stipend for the duration of their studies, from which they pay for registration fees, tuition, research cost, accommodation and all other expenses related to their studies. No additional cost\/expenses will be covered by Sasol.<\/li>\n
        2. The mentioned stipend is pre-determined and will be paid from the date that proof of registration for the degree involved can be submitted.<\/li>\n
        3. Access to Sasol technical mentors for support during studies.<\/li>\n
        4. Once finished with their studies, Sasol postgraduates have the opportunity to join the Sasol Graduate Development programme as a Scientist-in-Training or Engineer-in-Training. (Sasol approved rules\/regulations and the clauses of the bursary contract will be applicable.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
